Chitwan, September 27 Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi said on Tuesday that his government will not bring in divers from Bangladesh to search for former Home Minister Madhav Prasad Ghimire, who has been missing after a recent car-plunge into the Trishuli River. This comes a day after Minister for Transport Ramesh Lekhak said after visiting the accident site that the government will bring in Bangladeshi divers to search for Ghimire. Prime Minister Prachanda had also pledged to take diplomatic initiatives for bringing in the divers, if need be.

Nidhi, during his visit to the accident site, Chitwan’s Ghoptebhir, said: Nepali security personnel and fishermen know more about Nepal’s rivers and streams than Bangladeshi divers. So, there’s no alternative to conducting a search operation with help from Nepali security agencies and fishermen. We have mobilised 200 security personnela and local fishermen for the search, he said, expressing hope that they will be able to ascertain Ghimire’s status soon. Nidhi said the government will leave no stone unturned while searching for Ghimire.
