La La Land is a 2016 American romantic musical comedy-drama film written and directed by Damien Chazelle. The film stars Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, J. K. Simmons, Finn Wittrock, Callie Hernandez, Rosemarie DeWitt and Meagen Fay. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival on August 31, 2016 before being released in the United States on December 2, 2016 by Summit Entertainment.
In the heart of Los Angeles, aspiring actress Mia serves lattes to movie stars in between auditions while dedicated jazz musician Sebastian plays in dingy bars in order to scrape by. The two meet and fall in love, but, as success mounts, the dreams they worked so hard to maintain threaten to rip them apart.
